The Chamber Music Festival of New England has been created to provide young and amateur musicians with an opportunity to excel in their chamber musical skills by collaborating and performing together with professional musicians in a chamber music ensemble. You are invited to a fundraising concert presented by the Chamber Music Foundation of New England on Sunday, August 1st, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. at the historic Ventfort Hall in Lenox Mass. The concert will feature five talented young cellists: Egor Antonenko, Maria Kudryavtseva, Nadezhda Vasilyeva, Ekaterina Zhuk, Ilya Vasilyev, all  students of Maria Zhuravleva at the Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory.  Gold Medal Winner of 2007 International Tchaikovsky Competition, cellist Sergey Antonov will be a featured soloist with the group.

In the program:

Music of Bohuslav Martinu, Gabriel Faure, Karl Davidov, Petr I. Tchaikovsky, Gyorgy Ligeti, Manuel de Falla and Jakov Jakoulov, pianist and composer who will present music written specifically for the group of young cellists.

They performed Maurice Ravel's Chansons medecasses for voice, flute, cello and piano and Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 for soprano and 8 cellos. Also performed in this concert was Maurice Ravel's Introduction & Allegro for Harp, Strings, Flute and Clarinet and Zoltán Kodály String Quartet No. 1 op.2.

May 9 CONCERT AT THE FIRST CHURCH BOSTON

featured works of the renowned Boston composer and organist Jakov Jakoulov.


Boston Symphony violist, Michael Zaretsky,

with pianist Yelena Prizant, in performance of Jakoulov's critically acclaimed sonata for viola and piano No.1 (1995), Three Hildegard's Songs featuring Miranda Loud (soprano) and composer at the piano, and a World Premier of La Musica Leggera ( Light Music) for cello and strings featuring Tchaikovsky Competition Gold Medal Winner cellist Sergey Antonov,

Another highlight of the evening was Beethoven's Piano Trio No. 2 in G major performed by CMFoNE musicians Ellina Blinder (piano), Lilia Muchnik (violin) & Serget Antonov (cello).

featured two world renowned musicians, Yuri Mazurkevich

and Michelle LaCourse

They performed Richard Strauss' piano quartet in C minor Op. 13 with a talented young cellist, Ying Jun Wei and CMFoNE pianist Tanya Kodinsky. Also featured in the concert was another talented young cellist Mikhail Veselov. He will perform Schubert's piano trio No. 1 in B flat major with Lilia Muchnik, violin and Ellina Blinder, piano.

BORUSAN STRING QUARTET

2010 ICMEC GOLD MEDAL WINNER

After a thorough deliberation the 2010 ICMEC Jury Panel declared Borusan String Quartet  from Turkey the 2010 ICMEC Gold Medal Winner. Borusan String Quartet consisting of Esen Kivrak, violin, Olgu Kizilay, violin, Efdal Altun, viola and Cag Ercag, cello, gave an astounding performance in the final round of the 2010 International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall performing String Quartet Opus 29 by Turkish composer Fazil Say.

2010 INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER MUSIC ENSEMBLE COMPETITION

Attracted 87 chamber music ensembles from world famous music schools and institutions, such as the Juilliard School of Music, New England Conservatory, Walnut Hill School, The Curtis Institute of Music, Boston Conservatory, Boston University, Eastman School of Music, Hartt School of Music and many others. The competition semi-final round was held in Boston in May of this year where contestants from more than 20 states and 7 countries were competing for the opportunity to take part in the final competition round in Carnegie Weill Recital Hall.

The following chamber music ensembles finalists competed for gold, silver and bronze medals on May 31, 2010:

After a long deliberation the 2010 ICMEC Jury Panel

named the Borusan String Quartet the Gold Medal Winner. Duo Hessed won the Silver Medal and Aeolus  Quartet was a Bronze Medal Winner. The Volta Trio and Arneis Quartet received a Special Mention Award from the 2010 ICMEC Jury Panel
